Copp Set to Play in NEWVA Senior Classic All-Star Game

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College senior middle blocker Jordynne Copp (Cumberland, Maine) has been selected to play in the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic All-Star Game and Skills Competition on Sunday December, 3rd.

Copp is one of 34 players from around the New England Region to earn the honor and will be one of three from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) – Taylor Tiezzi (Lasell) and Bethany Trevino (Rivier) are the others – to appear in the exhibition.

The event, proudly sponsored by adidas and The Graphic Edge, will be held at the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym on the campus of Emerson College. The Knockout and Queen of the Court competitions begin at 10:30 AM and the All-Star event starts at 12:30 PM.

Copp, a two-year team captain and 2017 Second Team All-GNAC honoree, becomes the second player in SJC volleyball history to earn a spot in the NEWVA All-Star Game after tallying 273 kills, 102 digs, and 69 total blocks with a .278 hitting percentage during her senior campaign. She established career-highs in kills, kills per set (2.37), attempts (723), aces (20), block solos (44), points (349.5), and points per set (3.03) this fall.

In 120 career matches (430 sets), Copp recorded 664 kills in 1,869 attempts with a .242 attack percentage, 271 digs, 238 total blocks (129 solos, 109 assists), and 887.5 points. She completed her collegiate career ranked second in team history in sets played and third in blocks, solo blocks, block assists, blocks per set (0.6), and attack percentage and fourth in kills.

Felicia Wachowiak '15, the first Saint Joseph's player to appear in the NEWVA Senior Classic All-Star Game, played in the 2014 event.

The address for the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym located at Emerson College is 150 Boylston Street, Boston, MA with the gym located on Lower Level 3 (L3). Parking can found at metered spots around the Boston Common and Public Gardens as well as a number of parking garages for a fee.

Under the watch of second-year Head Coach Alexis Michal, the Monks posted a 14-18 overall record with a 6-6 mark in GNAC play this fall. St. Joe's earned the #6 seed in the GNAC Tournament, but suffered an opening-round 3-0 loss at the hands of third-seeded Rivier University on October 31st.
