Blatus Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College freshman Anthony Blatus (Dracut, Mass.) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Blatus nearly broke the Monks' javelin throw record with a 48.78m toss, which was good for fifth overall in the Maine State Championship at Bates College on Saturday.

Blatus is the third SJC track & field athlete to be honored by the GNAC this spring. Freshman Noah Hutchinson (Southwest Harbor, Maine) was selected as the Rookie of the Week on April 10th and junior Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) earned GNAC Athlete of the Week honors on April 17th.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the inaugural GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Regis (Mass.) this Sunday.
