Mattos Named GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – Weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior forward Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this fall.

Mattos enjoyed a productive week with three goals and a pair of assists for eight total points in two GNAC victories. The senior forward registered a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win at Norwich University on Wednesday and tallied two goals and an assist in a lopsided win at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.

Through 14 games this fall, Mattos – the reigning GNAC Offensive Player of the Year – leads the conference in goals (11), points (26), and game-winning goals (4). He continues to add to his SJC career-record totals in goals (50), points (122), and game-winning goals (18).

For Mattos, the GNAC weekly honor is the eighth of his collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's (14-0, 10-0 GNAC), ranked sixth and 10th in the latest D3soccer.com and United Soccer Coaches national polls, will play at University of Southern Maine tonight at 7:00 PM.
