STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior forward Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) has been named as the GNAC Corvias Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week and third time this season overall.
Mattos enjoyed a banner week with 10 points on four goals and two assists in a pair of GNAC victories. The junior forward netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-0 triumph over Regis (Mass.) on Wednesday and notched two goals and two assists in a lopsided win over Rivier on Saturday.
Through 11 games this fall, Mattos leads the GNAC in goals (14) and points (34), ranks second in game-winners (4), and third in assists (6), shot percentage (.412), and PK's (2-2). He also ranks second in NCAA DIII Men's Soccer in points per game (3.09), fifth in goals per game (1.27), sixth in total points (34), and seventh in total goals (14).
The 2016 First Team All-GNAC honoree currently ranks second in team history in career goals (33), points (80), and game-winning goals (13).
Saint Joseph's (10-0-1, 6-0-1 GNAC) will play at Emmanuel College on Wednesday in a conference contest slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
