GNAC Champion Cusack Earns Runner of the Week Honor

STANDISH, ME – Danielle Cusack '13 (Portland, ME/Deering) has been named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Cusack paced a field of 98 runners with a 20:53 effort in the GNAC Championship, held at Saint Joseph's College on Saturday, and earned GNAC Runner and Rookie of the Year honors for her effort in the 5K event. For Cusack, the top finish was the first of her career.

Cusack's sub-21-minute time was just the second achieved by an SJC runner at the St. Joe's course. The other St. Joe's runner to post a better time on the home course was Sarah Willis '08, who posted a 20:49 effort at the 2006 NCAA DIII Independent meet.

With the help of Cusack's performance, Saint Joseph's (66 pts) finished as the runner-up in the 2010 GNAC Championship. Johnson & Wales bested the SJC score by 12 points to capture the team crown.
