Women Place 26th at Regionals

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Saint Joseph's College women's squad placed 26th out of 49 teams with 771 team points in the NCAA Divsion III New England Regional Cross-Country Championships hosted by Williams College. Alysn Ludwig '09 (Waldoboro, ME) was the first SJC runner to complete the race, finishing 116th out of 330 runners with a 25:45.5 time in the 6K event.

Middlebury College won the event with 57 team points and Elise Tropiano of Amherst College placed first with a 21:49.3 effort.

Mary Casinghino '10 (Manchester, NH) toured the course in 26:17.5 to place 138th, Katie Murphy '11 (Baileyville, ME) placed 153rd with a 26:37.6 time and Tiffany Binette '11 (Biddeford, ME) ran the 6K NCAA qualifier in 27:16.0, good for 182nd place.

Rounding out the SJC runners were Shannon Marden '10 (Dover-Foxcroft, ME) (27:18.9, #185), Sarah Banks '09 (Swans Island, ME) (29:48.7, #262) and Christina Meehan '11 (Nashua, NH) (30:42.6, #286).

The 26th place finish for the women is the highest team finish since Saint Joseph's entered the NCAA in 2002.
