SJC Swimmers Notch Two Wins in Double Dual Meet

BANGOR, ME - The Saint Joseph's College women's swim team posted a pair of victories, 94-29 over Wheelock and 85-36 over Husson, on Saturday to improve to 6-1 on the season. Hannah Gajewski '12 (Biddeford, ME/McAuley) recorded three individual first-place finishes and one relay top finish in the event.

Gajewski's time of 1:16.70 in the 100-Breast set a new program record and she won the 100-Free (1:00.28) and 100-Fly (1:08.51) competitions while also swimming a leg of the winning 200-Medley (2:07.86). Overall this season, Gajewski has won 14 individual events and set nine program records.

Katie Brooks ‘11 (North Kingstown, RI) earned top finishes in the 100-Back (1:12.16) and 200-Back (2:33.96) events and Amanda Lanoix ‘12 (Lyman, ME) notched two top individual first-place efforts (200-Free, 2:10.69; 500-Free, 5:56.74) and a relay first. Jamie Wojtkiewicz ‘12 (Bedford, NH) posted a pair of victories in the 1000-Free (12:27.37) and 200-Breast (2:53.45) events.

Lindsay D'Ascanio ‘11 (Kennebunk, ME) and Ashton Piers ‘09 (Falmouth, ME/Deering) both served as members of the winning 200-Medley Relay team and also chipped in with individual firsts. D'Ascanio won the 200-Fly with a 2:35.85 time while Piers posted a win in the 100-IM with a 1:10.76 effort.

Rose Marie Maccarrone ‘12 (Hingham, MA) swam a leg for the winning 200-Free Relay unit and, with a 28.69 effort, won the 50-Free event.

Saint Joseph's will play host to Husson University in the first-ever collegiate meet at the Alfond Center on February 7th at 1:00 PM.
