St. Joe's Sets Program Highs in Win over Regis

WESTON, MA - Saint Joseph's set records for points in an event as the women defeated Regis College, 184-50, on Sunday afternoon. The margin of victory for the women is the largest-ever for the two-year program.

The women's team won all eight of their events and was lead individually by Lindsay D'Ascanio ‘11 (Kennebunk, ME) and Hannah Gajewski ‘12 (Biddeford, ME/McAuley) with 40 points apiece as each won both of their individual events and participated on both winning relay teams. D'Ascanio swam the 100-IM in 1:09.29 to break the club record time, which was set by Ashton Piers ‘09 (Falmouth, ME/Deering), who earned a 1:09.7 time last winter in the NEISDA Championship meet. Gajewski broke another team record, her fifth in just four collegiate meets. This time the freshman phenom broke D'Ascanio's 500-free record (5:46.5, 11/18 @ Regis) with a 5:40.35 in the event.

Jamie Wojtkiewicz ‘12 (Bedford, NH) gained 38 points with victories in the 200-free (2:15.71), 100-free (1:01.73) and 50-fly (33.08). She also swam a leg for the winning 200-free relay team (1:52.73).

Amanda Lanoix ‘12 (Lyman, ME) collected 30 points with second-place finishes in the 100-fly and 500-free events and also was a member of the triumphant 200-free relay and 200-medley relay (2:06.76) teams. Ashton Piers won a pair of individual events and earned 27 points while Katie Brooks 11 (Kingstown, RI), with a top finish in the 100-back (1:11.96) was awarded 26 points.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the GNAC Championships on Saturday, December 6th at Simmons College. The meet begins at 10:00 AM.
