Women's Lacrosse Team Awards Announced

STANDISH, ME – The SJC Women's Lacrosse team awards have been announced and six players have been recognized for their effort during the 2010 campaign.

Lauren Hagerman '10 (Scarborough, ME) and Alyssa Marchant '11 (Wakefield, MA) share the Monks' Most Valuable Player honor, while Megan Cutter '12 (Westbrook, ME) is the team's 2010 Sportsmanship Award recipient and Danielle Cusack '13 (Portland, ME/Deering) has been chosen as the 2010 Rookie of the Year. Cutter and Erika Waterhouse '13 (South Portland, ME) share the 2010 Coaches' Award accolade.

Hagerman enjoyed a fantastic season, capping a three-year career with eye-popping numbers across the board. The 2010 First Team All-GNAC choice netted 54 goals and dealt 29 assists for 83 total points, all career highs, and added 53 ground balls, 55 draw controls and 13 caused turnovers in 15 contests. She led the Monks in assists, points and draw controls and tied for the team-lead in caused turnovers in 2010. Hagerman, the first SJC player to reach 200 points, closed out her career as the program's all-time leader in assists (77), points (207), shot % (.491), man-down goals (6) and draw controls (157) and ranks second in goals (130).

Marchant scored a team-high 61 goals and tallied 65 points as a junior and became the first SJC player to reach the 100-goal mark early in the 2010 season. She also paced the Royal Blue in ground balls (71), tied for the lead in caused turnovers (13) and ranked second in draw controls (26) last spring. Marchant, a 2010 First Team All-GNAC selection, currently is the Monks' all-time leader in goals (153), shots (312), ground balls (138) and caused turnovers (39).

Cutter tallied nine goals, five assists, 30 ground balls and five draw controls as a sophomore and was selected by team vote as the SJC player who best represents the tenets of sportsmanship.

Cusack started 11 games as a rookie midfielder and accumulated a goal and an assist with 35 ground balls and 21 draw controls in 2010.

Waterhouse, a 2010 Second Team All-GNAC selection, shares the SJC Coaches' Award honor with Cutter after registering 20 goals, six assists and 18 ground balls as a first-year attacker.

The 2010 St. Joe's Women's Lacrosse posted a 10-4-1 overall record and went 7-1 in GNAC play under first-year Head Coach Anna Gordon. The Monks set 17 team records last season, including new marks for wins, winning percentage (.714), goals (220) and ground balls (461).
