Former Standout Daigle Tabbed as Women's Assistant

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's women's basketball Head Coach Mike McDevitt '83 has announced that Meghan Daigle '11 has been hired as an assistant coach.

Daigle, a three-year starting forward for the Monks, served as a student-assistant last season.

A two-time All-Conference selection, Daigle tallied 817 points, 426 rebounds, 112 assists and 83 steals during her time at Saint Joseph's. She paced the Royal Blue in scoring during her junior and senior seasons and grabbed a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game in her final season.

Also a fantastic free-throw shooter, Daigle drained 76.7% (217-283) of her attempts from the charity stripe during her SJC career, the sixth-best rate in team history. Also, her 11.5 PPG average during the 2010 campaign is the highest average by any Saint Joseph's player since 2004.

Saint Joseph's, 18-9 overall and 9-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play a year ago, opens the 2011-12 season at University of Maine-Farmington on November 15th at 7:30 PM. The Monks' home-opener will take place on Sunday, November 27th against University of Southern Maine in a 5:30 PM tip-off.
