St. Joe's Ranked Fourth in GNAC Preseason Poll

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Basketball preseason poll has been released and the Monks are forecasted to finish fourth according to a vote of conference head coaches.

St. Joe's, which received 97 points in the poll, returns three starters and six players from a 2009-10 squad that barely missed the conference tourney with a 12-12 overall record and a 7-5 in-league mark. Look for Head Coach Mike McDevitt '83, the winningest skipper in program history who returned to St. Joe's after five years at USM, to bring his team back to the GNAC tourney this coming February.

Reigning GNAC Champion Emmanuel College tops the preseason poll with 143 points. The 14-time conference champs are followed by Emerson (124), Norwich (114), St. Joe's (97), Suffolk (96), Albertus Magnus (94), Johnson & Wales (80) and Simmons (71).

Saint Joseph's (1-2) will play at Southern Maine on Sunday at 5:30 PM.
