McDevitt Garners MWBCA Honor Roll Mention


STANDISH, ME - The sixth installment of the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Weekly Report has been released, and Saint Joseph's sophomore guard Megan McDevitt (Cumberland, ME) has received honor roll mention.

In a 1-1 week for the Monks, McDevitt averaged 16.5 PPG and shot 58.8% (10-17) from the field, 4-4 from the line and 60% (9-15) from three-point distance. She paced the Royal Blue with 19 points in a 60-47 win over nationally-ranked Emmanuel in the Monks' 2010 GNAC opener on January 7th.

Through 13 games for the 7-6 Monks, McDevitt is averaging 9.8 points 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. She ranks as the team-leader in three-pointers made (26), three-point attempts (55) and free-throw percentage (.867).

Along with the weekly honors, the MWBCA releases statistical leaders after each reporting period. Several SJC players rank highly in the State of Maine, with Ashley Geel '12 (St. George, ME) sitting atop the blocked shots leader board with 2.7 per game and Allie Parent '12 (Camden, ME) ranking second in assists with 4.0 per contest. Carolyn Freeman '10 (Scarborough, ME/McAuley) is the state's fourth-leading three-point shooter (50%, 22-44) and McDevitt is right behind her teammate with a 47.3% (26-55) effort.

Saint Josephs' will host GNAC rival River College (9-3, 1-0 GNAC) on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
