Freeman Collects NEWBA and MWBCA Honors


STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's senior guard Carolyn Freeman (Scarborough, ME/McAuley) has been listed on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Weekly Honor Rolls.

Freeman averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3.7 assists in a 3-0 week for Saint Joseph's. The senior sharpshooter was 5-8 from three-point distance and registered 19 points in the Merry Monk Tournament Championship victory over Green Mountain College on December 5th and received tourney MVP honors. Freeman shot 8-8 from the FT line and netted 13 points and 9 boards against Maine-Presque on December 4th, and tallied 13 points, 7 boards and 5 assists against Thomas College on December 2nd. For the week, Freeman converted 47% (8-17) of her attempts from beyond the arc.

Through eight games for the 5-3 Monks, Freeman ranks as the team leader in scoring (12.4 PPG), three-point efficiency (.548, 17-31) and free throw efficiency (.762, 16-21) and is second on squad with 6.8 rebounds per game.

In their final game of the 2009 calendar year, Saint Joseph's will play at Husson University on Saturday, December 12th at 2:00 PM.
