Freeman Gains GNAC Honor Roll Recognition

STANDISH, ME -  The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced its Weekly Honor Roll and, for the second time this season, Saint Joseph's guard Carolyn Freeman '10 (Scarborough, ME/McAuley) has been recognized.

Freeman takes home the honor after averaging 14.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a 1-1 week for Saint Joseph's. The junior shot 4-7 from three-point range and scored 16 against Rivier on January 29th and posted her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 caroms in a win over Emerson January 31st.

Through 20 games, Freeman leads the Lady Monks (10-10, 3-4 GNAC) in three-point shooting (.394, 37-94) and rebounding (6.9 RPG) and is the team's second-leading scorer with 12.6 points per contest. Her accuracy from beyond the arc ranks third in the GNAC and sixth in Maine.

With 21 points against Emmanuel College on January 19th, Freeman became the 27th player in SJC women's basketball history to reach the 800-point plateau and currently has 840 points in 71 career games (11.8 PPG). One of the most prolific three-point shooters in program history, Freeman has netted 135 longballs in 410 attempts to rank third all time in both categories. Her career three-point percentage currently stands at .329, which is the eighth-best in program history.

Saint Joseph's will travel to Chestnut Hill, MA on Wednesday, February 4th to take on GNAC rival Pine Manor College for a 5:30 PM tipoff.
