Dick Bailey was added to the softball coaching staff prior to the start of the 2010-11 academic year.
Bailey, a 2008 Saint Joseph's College Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, served as the SJC Softball head coach for 11 seasons and posted a 244-101 (.707) record from 1985 to 1995. His winning percentage at St. Joe's ranks fourth all time while his wins total is the fifth-most in SJC Athletics history.
Bailey led the Royal Blue to six conference crowns, four NAIA New England titles and an NAIA Northeast Championship – which put the Monks in the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in 1994. He posted nine 20-win seasons and won three Coach of the Year honors at Saint Joseph's.
After 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, Bailey was hired as the Dean of Students at St. Joe's and worked in that capacity for 16 years.
After his tenure at St. Joe's, Bailey moved on to skipper the Colby College nine for 13 seasons and posted a 197-177-3 (.527) record as the Mules' leader. He closed out his head coaching career with a 443-296-3 (.600) record over 23 seasons.
