PROVIDENCE, RI – Sixth-seeded Saint Joseph’s College (37-10, 21-3 GNAC) fell to #4 Rhode Island College (38-12, 9-5 LEC), 7-4, in an elimination game of the NCAA DIII Softball Regional Tournament on Sunday morning. First baseman Alyssa Dunn ’11 (Standish, ME) went 3-3 with a two-run homer in the contest, which capped an historic four-game run at the NCAA’s for the Monks.

PROVIDENCE, RI – Sixth-seeded Saint Joseph’s (37-8, 21-3 GNAC) upset #2 Coast Guard (37-3, 15-1 NEWMAC), 4-3, in game eight at the Providence Regional of the NCAA DIII Softball Tournament played at Rhode Island College on Friday afternoon. Freshman hurler Rae-Marie Copan (Newton, MA) allowed three runs off five hits in five innings to collect her eighth win of the season.

WENHAM, MA – Sophomore third baseman Heather Tripp (Lovell, ME) slammed a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to put #2 Saint Joseph’s (34-8, 21-3 GNAC) ahead to stay in a 5-4 win over #5 Rivier College (26-14, 14-10 GNAC) in the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship game on Sunday afternoon at Gordon College.

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph’s (29-7, 19-3 GNAC) earned a pair of mercy-rule victories over Albertus Magnus College (0-27, 0-22 GNAC) at Richard W. Bailey Field on Monday afternoon. The Monks defeated the Falcons by an 11-0 margin in the opener before taking a 14-2 win in the nightcap.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA—Saint Joseph's (25-7, 15-3 GNAC) took both games of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Pine Manor College (8-19, 8-12 GNAC) on Thursday afternoon. The Monks erased an early deficit to take game one 9-1 before scoring 13 runs on 18 hits in a 13-5 victory in game two.

FORT MYERS, FL - Saint Joseph's College (6-2) took both games on Friday afternoon: a 3-2 thriller against North Park followed by an 8-4 victory over Amherst. Pitching propelled the Monks in both games as Rae-Marie Copan '14 (Newton, MA) hurled a complete game without allowing a walk in the opener and Maddie Kluna '12 (Standish, ME) also went the distance with eight strikeouts in the nightcap.

Madylan Kluna '12 (Standish, ME) notched a career-high 13 K's with four hits and no earned runs allowed in a complete-game effort.
