2009 Men’s Cross Country Preview

STANDISH, ME - The SJC Men's Cross Country team, led by Head Coach Tom Dann (12th season, 14th overall), will look to several top returners to lead the way in 2009.

Seniors Jeremy Allen (Rutland, VT), Andrew Moravick (Biddeford, ME), and Nico Tarquinio (Southbridge, MA) will provide valuable leadership for the Monks, on and off the trails, this season. Andrew Mockler '11 (Saco, ME) and talented newcomer Charles Henerberry '13 (Winthrop, MA) will also be asked to play large roles for the Royal Blue runners in 2009.

The group will be without 2009 graduate Ryan Prescott, who led the Monks trailblazers in 21 consecutive races dating back to his sophomore season. Prescott won the GNAC Championship race, and set a new St. Joe's course record last year (26:53), during both his junior and senior seasons and placed second in the Pop Crowell Invitational in 2008. One of the major tasks for Coach Dann and his squad in 2009 will be to find Prescott's heir apparent and build on the momentum gained by the departed senior.

St. Joe's will host the Runnin' Monks Early Bird 5K on September 4th to kick off the 2009 campaign and will travel to Biddeford to participate in the University of New England Invitational on September 12th.
