Track and Field Competes in Eric Loeshner Meet

FITCHBURG, MA – The Monks Track and Field squad traveled to Fitchburg State University this past weekend to compete in the Eric Loeshner Meet.

For the men, all five team members competed in two events. Jared Azulay '13 (Reading, Mass.) placed 21st in the 400 meter dash (59.82), and 31st in the 200 meter dash (25.97). Tyler Libby '15 (Clifton, Maine) placed 20th in the javelin (30.17m), and led the Monks in the discus throw placing 26th (16.05m). Robert Travers '15 (Lebanon, Maine) placed 20th in the shot put competition (6.59m), and 27th in the discus (14.09m).

Also participating on the men's side was Joe DiSalvo '15 (Derry, N.H.), who placed 16th in the 1500 meter run (4:33.13), and 29th in the 800 meter run (2:18.35), and Jeff Merrill '15 (Fitchburg, Mass.) who finished in 17th in the javelin (38.62m), and 33rd in the 800 meter run (2:26.75).

On the women's side, Peyton Dostie '15 (Standish, Maine) won the long jump competition (5.39m), placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash (59.07), and placed 5th in the 200 meter dash (26.79). Misha Leister '14 (Weymouth, Mass.) placed 32nd in the 200 meter dash (40.68). Shannon Chisholm '14 (Stoughton, Mass.) and Sarah Bakun '14 (Clinton, Mass.) competed in two events of their own. Bakun finished15th in the javelin (13.20m), and 22nd in the 800 meter run (3:35.35), while Chisholm placed 16th in the shot put competition (7.21m), and 22nd in the discus throw (16.51m).

Also battling for the Monks in the 800 meter run was Audrey Curry '15 (Perry, Maine) who placed 12th (2:44:01), and Lauren Tidd who finished 21st (3:29:63).

The Monks will conclude their season on April 29th, when they compete in the Regis College Pride Invitational.
