Men Place Seventh, Women Eighth in USM Invitational

GORHAM, ME – The Saint Joseph's club track and field team competed in the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The SJC men placed seventh with 32 team points while the women finished eighth with 29 points.

The men were led by Jack LaFreniere '13 (Alton, N.H.) who won the 200 meter dash (23.60) and placed second in the 400 meter dash (53.35). Hussein Ibrahim '15 (Lewiston, Maine) was third in 1 mile run (4:41.93) and Calvin Servaes '14 (Hull, Mass.) finished 6th in the high jump (5-06) and long jump (17-11.50) events.

For the men, Evan Wright '15 (New Preston, Conn.) was sixth in the 600 meter run (1:40.03), Tyler Shennet '14 (Auburn, Maine) finished 13th in the 400 meter dash (59.27), Jared Azulay placed 15th in the 400 meter dash (59.82) and 31st in the 200 meter dash (26.91), and Robert Travers '15 (Lebanon, Maine) was 16th in the shot put (6.63 meters).

Peyton Dostie '15 (Standish, Maine) paced the women's effort for the Monks by placing second in the 200 meter dash (27.37), third in the 400 meter dash (1:01.40), third in the long jump (16-05.75), and seventh in the high jump (4-07.75). Amber Dostie '15 (Standish, Maine) was third in the 600 meter run (1:46.03), Doe Leckie '15 (Naples, Maine) finished seventh in the 55 meter hurdles (9.16) and 20th in the 200 meter dash (29.45), and Sarah Bakun '14 (Clinton, Mass.) was 19th in the 400 meter dash (1:18.20). Shannon Chisholm added a 36th-place finish in the shot put (6.65 meters) competition.
