MacCallum Collects Regional Honor

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's Men's Soccer standout Doug MacCallum '10 (Hingham, MA) has received regional recognition as Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference DIII New England Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

MacCallum, who also collected his second GNAC Player of the Week honor on Monday, scored three goals with an assist in a 2-0 week for the Monks, including the game-winner over JWU in a conference quarterfinal victory on October 31^st. The senior forward tallied a goal and an assist against Rivier on October 28^th and a pair of goals against the Wildcats in the playoff opener. For MacCallum, the regional accolade is the first of his career.

Through November 2^nd, MacCallum leads the GNAC in game-winners (7), ranks second in goals (12) and third in points (27). He also holds the SJC program record for career goals (38), points (87), game winners (13), shots (176), shot percentage (.216) and games played (78).

St. Joe's (12-7-1, 7-2 GNAC), the top seed for the GNAC Tournament, will host #4 Norwich (10-6-2, 5-3-1 GNAC) in a conference semifinal, and rematch of last season's finale, on Tuesday, November 3^rd at 1:00 PM. The Monks topped the Cadets, 1-0, earlier this season.

MacCallum shares the weekly award with Scott Faria '11 (Fall River, MA) of Framingham State College. Faria scored three goals, including two gamewinners, in a 2-0 week for the Rams. He notched the deciding tally in a 3-2 overtime triumph over Clark and a pair of markers in a 3-2 victory at Fitchburg State.

About the ECAC

The ECAC is the nation's largest athletic and the only multi-divisional conference in the country with approximately 300 Division I, II, and III colleges and universities. The ECAC membership covers 16 states and stretches from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois.
