PORTLAND, ME – Saint Joseph's (3-6) fell to Plymouth State (4-1), 18-7, in a non-conference men's lacrosse contest at Deering Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night. Freshman attack Max Meserve (Kennebunk, Maine) netted a pair of goals in the loss.

Trailing 4-0 after just three minutes of play, the Monks proceeded to post a 4-1 run and trailed by one goal heading into the second quarter. St. Joe's would get no closer however, as the Panthers went on to outscore the hosts by a 4-1 margin in the second stanza and carried a 9-5 advantage into intermission.

The Monks managed to cut their deficit down to 10-7 with goals just 32 seconds apart early in the third quarter, but Plymouth rattled off eight unanswered markers over the remainder of the contest en route to an 18-7 triumph.

For St. Joe's, Jonathan Horgan (Hingham, Mass.) tallied a goal, two assists and a team-high nine ground balls, Jake Ricciardi (Sharon, Mass.) added a goal and seven ground balls, and Kody Peckham (West Gardiner, Maine), Andrew Sullivan (Rochester, N.H.) and Michael McGann (Lee, N.H.) all chipped in with a goal in the losing effort. Albert Comins (Newbury, Mass.) notched seven caused turnovers and Joseph Connolly (Portland, Maine) registered seven ground balls and three caused turnovers on the night.

For Plymouth State, Ty Long (Dover, N.H.) recorded five goals and two assists, Nick Morello (North Billerica, Mass.) netted five goals and a helper, Zach Frank (Wakefield, Mass.), Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Mass.) put up two goals and three assists, and Stephen Patch (Newbury, N.H.) chipped in with five assists, five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Scott Giusti (Newton, Mass.) corralled a game-high 14 ground balls in the victory.

SJC goalkeeper Christopher Driscoll (Saco, Maine) made 19 saves in 57:20 of play and Ethan Rettew (Ephrata, Pa.) faced one shot in 2:40 of mop-up duty in the cage for the Royal Blue.

Netminder Jack Tyo (East Sandwich, Mass.) made eight saves in the victory for the Panthers.

Saint Joseph's will host GNAC-rival Daniel Webster College at Deering Memorial Stadium on Thursday at 7:30 PM. Plymouth State returns to action on Saturday when the Panthers travel to UMass.-Boston for a Little East Conference contest slated to begin at 1:00 PM.
