Two Men's Basketball Players Net Honor Roll Mention

STANDISH, ME – Two Saint Joseph's College Men's Basketball players have received honor roll mention for their play in three conference tilts last week.

Senior guard Tyler Kelley (Saco, ME) has gained Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) Honor Roll mention and freshman center Clark Noonan (Bangor, ME) has been listed on the MMBCWA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference honor rolls.

Kelley averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game in a 2-1 week for Saint Joseph's and became the33rd player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau with 10 points against Emmanuel on January 31st. The junior guard dropped 27 points off a 6-11 three-point shooting effort in a hard-fought win over Suffolk on February 3rd.

Noonan averaged 8.3 points and 5.3 boards last week for the Monks and tallied 11 points and eight caroms in a win over Emmanuel on January 31st.

Kelley is currently averaging 14.2 points, 3.3 boards and 1.2 steals per game for the 15-7 Monks. He leads the Royal Blue in three-pointers made (61) and attempted (143) and also ranks as the team-leader in steals (27).

Noonan averages 4.2 points and 3.8 caroms per contest and has started in 14 consecutive games for St. Joe's. In his stint as a starter, Noonan has averaged 5.5 points and 4.7 boards per game while defending the best big men in the GNAC.

The Monks are ranked fourth, with one first-place vote and 24 total points, in the MMBCWA Weekly Poll and several SJC players rank highly in the state statistical report. As of Monday, Matthew Medeiros '14 (Westport, MA) led all NCAA DIII and NAIA players hailing from Maine institutions in three-point success rate (46.7%, 28-60). Zach O'Brien '12 (Schenectady, NY) leads the state in free-throw percentage (83.3%, 45-54) and third in assists (4.2 APG) and Chris Petzy '12 (Kensington, NH) is third in three-point percentage (44.1%, 49-111).

Saint Joseph's will host Lasell College on Saturday at 3:00 PM. The team will honor its two seniors – Kelley and Anthony Savino (Portland, ME/Cheverus) – with a ceremony prior to tip-off.
