Successful Seasons Yield Top Seeds for Three SJC Fall Teams

STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference and North Atlantic Conference have announced their respective Conference Tournament brackets, and the SJC Field Hockey, Women's Soccer and Men's Soccer teams have all captured the #1 seed for the playoffs.
With the highest seed, all three teams have secured home field advantage throughout their respective tournaments. The playoff trifecta has played exceedingly well at home, with a combined record of 19-5-1 (.792) in Standish this fall.
In field hockey, the Monks posted a perfect 7-0 record in North Atlantic Conference play and head into the tourney with a 14-3 record overall. Since six teams gain entry into the playoffs for field hockey, St. Joe's and #2 Castleton State earn a bye in the quarterfinal round, which is played this Saturday. The Monks will host the #4 Husson/#5 Lasell winner on Wednesday, November 4th at 2:00 PM. The NAC Championship will take place on Saturday, November 7th, time TBD, at the highest remaining seed. In men's soccer, St. Joe's went 7-2 in GNAC play, 11-7-1 overall, to collect the top seed in the tournament. The Monks will host #8 Johnson & Wales University (2-15, 2-7 GNAC) on Saturday, October 31st, at 1:00 PM. If victorious this Saturday, the Monks will host the #5 Albertus Magnus/#4 Norwich winner on Tuesday, time TBA, in the semifinal round. In women's soccer, Saint Joseph's played out the conference schedule to the tune of a 9-1-2 record and went 11-5-2 overall en route to earning the top seed in the GNAC Tournament. St. Joe's will host Norwich or Johnson & Wales in a GNAC Quarterfinal matchup on Sunday, November 1st at 1:00 PM. The GNAC semifinals will be played on Wednesday, November 4th, time TBA, and the GNAC Championship will take place on Saturday, November 7th, time TBA.
