STANDISH, ME – Former Saint Joseph's College pitcher Charlie Furbush (South Portland, Maine), now a starter for the Seattle Mariners, will make an appearance on the "Bill Green's Maine" show on WCSH channel six, Portland's NBC affiliate, on Saturday night at 7:00 PM.
Furbush, back in Maine for the Major League Baseball offseason, pitched in 28 games for the Detroit Tigers and Mariners last summer compiling a 4-10 record with a 5.48 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 85.1 innings. After serving primarily as a reliever for the Tigers, Furbush worked as a starter after being traded to the Mariners at the MLB trade deadline.
The 6'5 lefthander pitched for Saint Joseph's for two years (2005-06) before transferring to Louisiana State University for his junior campaign. After one season at LSU, Furbush was drafted in the fourth round by Detroit.
Bill Green interviewed Furbush, the only current MLB player from Maine, in the Monks' home dugout on Friday, October 14th.
