Annual Athletic Awards Banquet to be Held April 29th
STANDISH, ME – The 2011 Saint Joseph’s College Athletics Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, April 29th at 7:00 PM in the Harold Alfond Center gymnasium. The annual event will be preceded by a senior reception which begins at 5:00 PM.
Over 40 senior athletes will be honored at the senior reception with all players receiving a parting gift from the Athletics Department as well as a yearbook depicting individual honors and team achievements over the past four years. H'ordeuvres will be served and an alumni speaker will offer a presentation for the senior athletes and their parents.
Eleven different honors will be given during the awards banquet as Student-Athlete of the Year, Athlete of the Year and Newcomer of the Year individual awards – as selected by SJC head coaches and staff - for both men and women will be presented at the Awards Banquet.
Several individual honors, including the Chris Kiernan Award - given to the athlete who has displayed the willingness to work through and overcome adversity, and the Father John Tokaz Award - bestowed upon the individual within the college community who has displayed extraordinary support of the athletic department mission, will also be announced at the annual banquet.
Desserts and refreshments will be served and a photo slideshow, created by David Bates of Fotografixstudio.com, featuring a plethora of action and candid shots from the Monks’ games and events will be viewed at the event.
